I. Welcome

Deborah welcomed everyone and read short piece from Marge Piercy. Acknowledged and welcomed Natalia as new LLC Team member.

II. Update

Deborah informed the Advisory Committee members that the two pieces we are beginning to work on is the Leadership and Race, and Leadership and Networks piece.
A. Developing Workspaces
Natalia introduced group to new Leadership for a New Era workspace and walked everyone through the various sections, links and functions, and how to use and edit them. New system integrates many of the other individual functionalities. Anyone can join - do not need to be invited, but we have the capability to "ban." Claire said one of things we are trying to do with this project is to encourage participation and this space lends itself quite well to that.
Sally asked how we imagine it will be used? Claire responded, encourage participation and contribution, initially - and down the line, encourage collaborative writing. How do we begin to narrow down and focus the contributions we are looking for? When ask for contributions in terms of resources and focus - create a framework.
B. Partner Outreach: Leadership and Race and Leadership and Networks.

III. Products and Process

A. Tour of the collaborative work space
  1. How can we use the workspace to collect resources and also build existing resources?
  2. What kinds of incentives can we create for contributors? Might feature their resources on the site? Help people figure out how they can articulate how their contribution is relevant to a particular topic. Sally thought it might be interesting to have a grid and check all the areas where a particular piece might be relevant. Each time you create a piece or content, you have the option of tagging that contribution - would want consistency around the tagging system.
  3. How should we (can we) use other websites that collect resources and have a following on the topics that we are exploring (e.g. Leadership Networks or Racial Equity Tools)?

B. Product Development
What set of questions should each publication seek to answer as a template for of the Leadership for a New Era publications?
Proposed questions for discussion:
Context and Framing
1. Why is change in our thinking and practice on this topic needed now (cite statistics, research, scans to make a strong case for change)?
2. What needs to change and what difference would those changes make?
Design
3. What approaches/tools/resources will move leadership work in the desired direction?
4. What design advice can be given on this topic to those who cultivate and support leadership?
Evaluation
5. How will we know if these approaches are helping us move us toward increased social equity?
6. What outcomes related to this topic can/should be documented and measured to monitor progress and impact?
Resources and Future Learning
5. What are useful resources for further exploration and inquiry?
6. Around what questions do we see need/opportunity for more action research?

A. Role of the Advisory Committee going forward
B. Planning for a webinar on LNE that will include potential partners and contributors to the two pieces that we are proposing to work on this year
