Reflections about our first webinar

I wrote a blogpost on the LLC website about the webinar we held to introduce Leadership for a New Era to potential contributors, partners and allies in the work of creating more inclusive, networked, and collective approaches to leading and leadership development. The post reflects on our learning from the call, especially how to frame the relationship between LLC and LNE. The purpose of LNE is to attract and connect a much broader range of voices and perspectives so that we can learn from one another and align our efforts in ways that can significantly increase our collective capacity to influence leadership and leadership development. So much of what we are doing relies on creating a vibrant virtual community. While LLC is committed to hosting this space, we welcome you to help us create and steward this community so we can all learn from each other about how to do virtual community work better. What practices do you think best support virtual community organizing? How can LNE become a space that attracts and provides opportunities for all of us to leverage our efforts by connecting them with others? What are your ideas about how we can learn and lead together in new ways? Do you find this valuable?

LNE has a good foundation, but I believe it might be better focused in some areas. I understand the vision statement, but most people probably don't understand the wording used and/or the significance of what is embodied in that vision. A starting point might be a working definition of leadership embraced by the (possibly reworded) vision and what that means to being a leader and group member. Another area of focus might be identifying possible stakeholder groupings who might visit the site and determine what types of discussions and/or resources they might be interested in retrieving. Knowing who might be visiting and their reason for the visit to the LNE web site would then drive site navigation.
